Maltese Mix - Elkhart County Humane Society
by Tonie
(Indiana)
This is a couple days after we got Winston
A great way to adopt a Maltese puppy is through your local Humane Society. I check my local website often and found our Maltese mix Winston! We went and had a meet and greet with our Cocker Spaniel and it was love at first sight!
Winston is a Maltipoo. He weighs 4 1/2 lbs. We paid $100 at the shelter, it included his shots. We had to take him to the vet to get neutered, pull some teeth, and get his rabies. He is 1 year old.
Pearl River County Mississippi Humane Society
by Mary Cooley
(New Orleans, LA)
Did you ever think a traumatic event could have a positive result? After returning back to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and to an empty nest(my youngest had started college in the midst of Hurricane Katrina) I found my newly renovated home beautiful but empty.
I wanted to fill the void and not having a dog in over 30 years, adoption quickly came to mind. I went online and searched the New Orleans area SPCA and surrounding area. Still no luck. I remember the dog I had about 30 years ago was from the Pear River County, Mississippi area. so that's where I searched next. I saw a puppy online and drove about an hr. to see it at the humane society. The dog I ended up adopting is a Maltese Terrier mix.
His name is Ace and was only 4 months old at the time of adoption. He is a beautiful white with long fluffy ears with beige markings at the tips. He has big round black eyes and black button nose. Personality is astounding. Very loyal to me and protective though he is friendly to everyone that gives him a little pat on the back.
My family is very attached to Ace and feel very lucky to have him in our family. This was the positive aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Adopt a Maltese Puppy from the City Pound
by Eileen Tobin
(Victoria, TX USA)
You can adopt a Maltese puppy from the city pound. I help rescue and re-home small dogs and take foster care of puppies until they are old enough to get adopted. Angie and her baby were at our local animal control. Angie's puppy got adopted really fast.
No one wanted Angie because she was older and had health problems so she went home with me and lived 3 more years. She was one of the best doggies I have ever had. She was a joy to be around so loving and loyal. Angie loved everyone even my big doggies and everyone loved Angie. She lived life to the fullest and was always happy and loved to play.
She knew she was very humorous and delighted in making her human friends laugh. You could tell by her big smile that was larger than she was.
Adopt a Maltese Puppy from the Humane Society

(Auckland, New Zealand Mangere Bridge)
We were searching on tadreme for a month, and were about to give up hope. Our lost resort was to ring the humane society to adopt a Maltese puppy.
We found out about a Maltese mix, and contacted the owners. Then we went up to look, and fell in love with her!
Shelter Adoption - Ragsy
by Robert
(Fort Gratiot, MI)
Our Maltese is 4 years old and we adopted him from the shelter when he was 2 months old. When we saw him put his little nose through the door, it was love at first sight.
Ragsy is absolutely adorable and a little fluff ball of love. Our Maltese loves to snuggle and play, he's a real bundle of energy. He loves to ride in the car, every time my husband picks up the car keys he hurries and jumps in my husbands arms making sure he gets to go for a ride.
He sleeps with us every night and usually snuggles between my husband and I. But when it comes to seeing big dog's he thinks he's king of the castles. It's funny the big dogs always back down and then their friends and will play together. It's really funny because you thing Ragsy's would be scared and jump in our lap.
Adopt a Maltese Mix from Petco
I live in Louisiana and I rescued a Maltipoo from Petco's adoption days on Saturday's. He is the most delightful dogs I've ever owned!! He definitely had not had training in his previous home that surrendered him but with a few weeks of consistent training he has easily learned our house rules and loves showing off his new learned commands! He has only been here with me for a little over a month, but Already I can't imagine life without him!! His former home had not groomed him and he had to be completely shaves down bc he was so matted, but he is turning into quite the looker as his hair grows out! As you can tell, I don't have enough good things to say about him!! His adoption fee was $100 and worth every penny and much much more!!!
