My Maltese Pekingese started to get stains after a year old. The food that I gave him was Pedigree for puppies. The water, tap and the bowl, plastic. after reading the probable causes, I will buy steel ones and he'll be drinking purified water from now on.
Anyway, after two weeks of recommended use and a grooming, he stopped getting stains. I ran out of Angel Eyes and didn't buy any more for 2 months (holiday season) and the stains came back. He's on it again and the stains have stopped accumulating around his eyes, although the old stains are still there, they just haven't gotten worse.
This product works great, a bit on the high price side, but it works! Also note that I only give him a quarter of a teaspoon every other day now and that helps to keep from having to buy this stuff too often.

I bought Angel's Eyes for my teacup Maltese pup, Bianca, and we couldn't be more impressed. I coupled it with the Eye Envy treatment and she looks fabulous.

Use just a little bit of Angels Eyes mixed with her food and has really improved the eye tearing problem.

Angel Eyes is by far the best eye stain removal product I have used. I used it starting with my Shih tzu, and now use it more my Maltese Shihtzu. I have tried pretty much every other solution (distilled/bottled water, food change, cleaning, different products) and none of them worked.
I do worry at times if it is harmful. I have looked into it, and it doesn't seem to be. My Shih tzu has been on it for over 5 years. Any ideas?

I have been using the product, Angel Eyes, on my pure white Maltese, Romeo, since he was 3 months old. He is 2 1/2 now. It started working almost immediately. I had bought the Large size and it was around $100 or so. Yes, you may say... that`s so expensive, BUT... it WORKS!
The container has lasted 2 years. A very small sprinkle on his food once a day (/4 teaspoon or less) keeps the red away. His face and eyes are 100% pure white since the day I started this...(Well, maybe it took a week or so to be perfectly white...lol!) I was amazed when I started using it. I had tried other products and the ones you wash the eye fur with to no avail, and what a mess and a fight to do that!
I highly recommend Angels' Eyes Pet Tear Stain Remover. You may start to use this on puppies that are 8 weeks old. It is safe. Ingredients: 100% Pure Beef Liver, Tylosin as tartrate. It is easy to do and really WORKS! There is nothing like a freshly bathed Maltese with a heavenly pure white coat and FACE!!!!!!
I hope this helps everyone with the red staining problems. It also works on other breeds of dogs with this problem.(Poodles, Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Terrier, etc). This is not a commercial! I was happy to let people know there is a simple solution to this problem.Oh, and it must be used daily. No muss! No fuss! Just sprinkle on food!!!!!!!
Now,for over 2 years, Romeo is sooo pretty! :D

Angel Eyes antibiotic (over the counter) and Stay White Secret, a solution. These two products used together work great. PLUS don't feed treats and/or dog food that has dye in it.
I only need a tiny bit of the Angel Eyes about 3 times a week and I clean the outside of their eyes with the Stay White Secret daily. I have three Maltese dogs.

I have had my Maltese for 9 months and when I got him the stains were so bad, I tried to cut out the hair around the eyes carefully but as soon as the hair grow back the stains came back too.
I was searching online and came across Angel's Eyes website... It's only been three weeks and I'm so pleased with the change. His eye area is so much brighter and he looks better. I took Magic to the groomer yesterdays the 11th of June and the groomer so pleased with his face she is now going to order Angel eyes for his clients.

Angel Eyes is a product that you put on a little bit of their food to ensure they get it all. My little girl, Lexie does not have tearing eyes but my Mom's dog, Lexie's brother, Charlie HAD terrible tear stains.
Within 3 weeks of using Angel Eyes all tear staining was gone. You have the use it twice a week continuously but it is well worth it to see his cute little face all clean.
Mom usually mixes it with a bit of yogurt for him cause he loves yogurt. Angel Eyes is available in Canada and USA.

We found out our Maltipoo dog is allergic to wheat and corn. The vet recommended Angel Eyes and it works like a charm. You mix it in the dog food and you will see results in around a week.
Our Maltese had a face which was covered with ugly, reddish stains. We tried eliminating foods with red dye, giving her bottled water and topical solutions--nothing worked.
I found a website which talked about Angels' Eyes and the success many dog owners had with it. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it, and it worked like a miracle.
There was significant improvement in our dog's face in about two weeks. The entire problem cleared up in a month.

Our Malt-a-poo vomited every time we gave her Angel Eyes.
Further, her latest liver profile has been abnormal. Angel Eyes has an antibiotic and is formulated using beef liver. Both the antibiotic and beef liver can cause problems in some dogs. This was not indicated on the label. I am hoping our puppy has not sustained any lasting damage.
From now on, we'll simply use a mild water and hydrogen peroxide solution on the stains and keep the hair around her eyes clipped short.
Hopefully, this will control the problem and not cause her harm. Once washing the area, we'll apply a little Vaseline to protect the fur from staining.

I gave my Maltese Angels' Eyes for dogs which is a food additive for 6 months this helped to stop the new staining.
I also use Hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball and swab the already stained area daily and comb out any stick stuff left behind. When I bath my pup I use a little hair peroxide on the stain. I apply it with my finger, rub it in and carefully rinse a minute or two later.
Please remember to be VERY careful not to get any product in the puppies eyes.

Angels Eyes is an effective solution to eye stain. I started my little adopted, 4lb maltese on it as soon as I brought her home. This product is available at most pet stores such as PetCo or Centinela.
It is a bit pricey but you use so little that one small bottle will last almost a year. Follow the directions and the results are amazing. After the initial prescribed dosage for the first 6 months, I now sprinkle a TINY amount in her food ONCE a week. Harmless and effective!

Try Angle Eyes. It is a powder that you sprinkle on their food. My Maltese has never had a dog eye stain problem when I have used it. It really does work!

I have used Angels Eyes on my little Maltese, Charlotte, off and on since 2005. Lowest dose, 1/16 tsp, really just a pinch on her food for several weeks and the staining stops. Intervals of unrecurrent staining are from a few months to a year. Two days of treatment and she's clear but I continue the little pinch for several weeks and she stays clear for a long period. The product does not seem to degrade. I am still using a jar labeled best by 12/08. It comes in a little plastic jar = 30gr. Ingredients list 100% pure beef liver.
I am astonished that people are still trying to find solutions when this amazing product has been in grooming salons for years (at least in Florida where I found it).

Angels Eyes works great for us to reduce dog tear staining. It can be sprinkled on our dogs food at least twice a week of the first 3 months. We saw a difference in TAO within 2 weeks. It was a recommendation from a dear friend who also has a Maltese Shih Tzu mix.

My Maltese Cody is two and he had terrible tear stain. I tried everything from keeping his eyes dry, to changing his water, his dish, eye stain "removers" and nothing worked! My neighbor told me about a product she heard of from a friend... Angels Eyes. She had been using on her Shih tzu for about 3 months and she got great results.
I went online and ordered a bottle of 120 mg for about 60 dollars. There is also a website for Angel Eyes but it was more expensive. Our Result: It has been 6 weeks and 100% of Cody's tearstains are GONE. I sprinkle a 1/4 tsp of the Angels Eyes in his food every morning and he loves it...
He was always a gorgeous Maltese, but now more than ever, he is amazing looking and I look in his brown eyes now and am not distracted by the stains.
This product truly works, I give it 5 stars for a product. I will certainly buy it again, but I won't need to for a while since the amount you give daily is so small.
TRY IT!!

It works great! I use it on my Maltese puppy! I put it in her food every night and she doesn't mind it. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and I already see a difference.
Angels Eyes doesn't get rid of existing tear stains they have to be trimmed off but it keeps them from staining again. I love it!

I tried everything topical with no results. Someone mentioned this powder called Angel Eyes and it did the trick. Within a very short time my 2 Maltese had no more tear stains. The hair under the eyes grew in white and there were no more clumpy matted problems.

My Abi our year old Maltese had terrible eye stains. I tried the eye envy and it did not work on her. It did work on Mesh our tiny Maltese. Abi has been using Angels Eyes for 1 year now and has the most beautiful white baby doll face.
I will be more than delighted to share photos if anyone wants to see. Our groomer was so impressed she has told most of her clients.

Angel Eyes is a great tear stain remover. You just put drops in there water. My vet told me that it would not hurt my other dogs to drink it either.
Wilma, my little Morkie is so cute with no stains now!

My Maltese had pretty bad staining, I tried Angel Eyes, it is a powder that you add to the food once a day it really worked, I had tried solutions you put directly on the stains, and it did not work.
I used Angel Eyes for several months, the stains are gone, and I no longer need to use it. He looks great.

he's still just as cute and no staining
I have used Angels Eyes for years (my Teddy is 4 years old) and there is never any staining. I ran out once and the staining showed up again - I make a point of not running out anymore.
It's very easy to use and as picky as he is with his food, he likes it. phew :)

Angels Eyes helps alot! You put it in their food, or their water. Either way it doesn't matter. I've been using this for my dog Lilly for quite awhile because she has a pretty bad time with the stains on her eyes. One catch though you have to order it online because they don't sell it in stores. I hope this was a bit of help to you and your Maltese!

My Maltipoo had terrible tear stains under and all over his eyes. Nothing worked to remove them.
Then I heard of this product called Angel's Eyes. I know two people who use it and their dogs look beautiful. It is a powder that you sprinkle over their food. In about three weeks if your dog is a good eater the stains will be completely gone.
It is an excellent product that you can find on the internet. You will be greatly surprised at the results.

After spending hours searching the internet for tear stain/saliva stain remedies, I decided to see what the owners of the Whitest of White Maltese babies use.
Because I thought some of my findings were serious, I blogged yesterday about two tear stain products on the internet, one accusing the other of Antibiotic use while using a "herb" with potentially severe side effects themselves.
Angel Eyes did respond to my voice message:
Their representative clairified that Angel Eyes "Natural" does not have antibiotic in it but the "Original" does have such minute amounts of Tylosin Tartate that it does not cause resistance. I was relieved after having my Schnauzer baby on it for 6-months. The product took about 3-months for 50% reduction of saliva stains and 75% at 6-months.
The product website that scared me to death was contains euphrasia-officinalis (the following site states no research available for animals!) I have not heard back from their voice mail.
(scroll to the bottom of the following web site resource of this herb)
http://www.wellness.com/reference/herb/eyebright-euphrasia-officinalis/dosing-and-safety
I would like to add that, I am grateful to be able to read what the Maltese Families use for their Whitest of White babies and look forward to finding the perfect remedy for us.
Thank You So Much and God Bless, Janice, R.N.
