Best Male Dog Names - Pippin

We think this is one of the best male dog names for our dog because he was small like a hobbit and had a mischievious personality like Pippin from "Lord of the Rings". We also felt the name was appropriate for a fun-loving, energetic puppy. He has lived up to his namesake and keeps us laughing and smiling at his antics. We also call him "Pip" for short.

Male Dog Names - Job

I rescued Job from a puppy mill bust in Missouri. When we brought him home he was thin, stained yellow from the urine that ran down from all the rabbit cages that were stacked on top of his. He was pitiful looking, so scared & shy too. My daughter said that he had to have the faith & patience of Job (like in the Bible) to have waited to be rescued from such an awful situation instead of giving up & dieing. So we decided that "Job" (pronounced Jobe) was the perfect name for him.

German Male Dog Names - Buhba Bear

Buhba Bear

I can't take credit for choosing this name, it is a German male dog name. My husband and I tried to chose a name we both liked. However, we were not clicking on our choices.

My 4 year old granddaughter was over to see the puppy when she picked him up and said, "Come here little Buhba Bear". At the time I had no idea if Buhba was an actual name, but it really fit our puppy.

I called my husband and he agreed it was a great name for the puppy. Out of curiosity I got on the internet to find out if Buhba was an actual name. It is derived from old Germany and can also be spelled Bubba, but the spelling Buhba is the original spelling and means "boy". The middle name "Bear" really fits our puppy.

I like the idea that my granddaughter named him. I babysit her 4 days a week so she considers he is her dog also.

Male Dog Name - Newton

Our male dog is named after Sir Issac Newton. We were lost and spinning when we unexpectedly lost our beloved Jack Russell Terrier Quincy. Newton saved us from deep, deep heartache and brought us back to earth. Plus he's small and "Newt" seemed a really cute name to call a little guy!

Maltese Puppy Names - Blake

We found our Maltese puppy dog Blake in the pet store at our local mall. As we drove home we were coming up with the typical male dog names, Max, Baily, Zack... I then began looking up the origins of the names. When we got home I watched my 3 pound puppy, with his crazy white hair as he hopped around his new home. I thought of how charming and debonair he looked. He is quite a handsome dog with his white mustache and soulful black eyes. The name Blake popped into my head so I looked it up. The name is an Old English word meaning white or pale and was used to describe someone with light hair. Blake is the only light haired member of our dark Italian family so I thought it was just right. I consulted with my parents and we decided that Blake was the perfect name for our Maltese puppy!

Boy Dog Names - Ricky

Ricky is a boy's name. I chose a regular name, not a "doggie" name, because he is a family member, not a pet. He is turning 5 in July and he remains to be my son, my daughter's brother... and he knows this as well as we do. Top Dog Names - Buddy

It was the morning after we had gotten him. Just the night before we had came home in the pouring rain after we drove two hours to the Poconos and back to get our Buddy. He had thrown up all over the place in the car ride home. I never knew how much throw up could come out of a small little dog. When we came home, I wanted him to feel like home so I slept with him on the floor. In the middle of the night he started making this weird moaning noise. I looked at him and his eyes were back in his head, I was only in 2nd grade so I started screaming. I thought he was dead. So I sobbed while screaming "you ok little buddy. Please be okay". All of a sudden he woke up because of the noise. I was so happy I ran to my moms room and screamed He's alive! The next morning we were in the living room squeezing the heck out the little thing. My mom asked me what do you want to name him and that was when I decided to name him Buddy.

Best Male Dog Names - Foster

We found him in a parking lot and took him to the vet 1st thing to make sure he didn't have a tag implanted and that he was healthy. We didn't have a name for the vet to put in the records so I just had them put our last name, Foster, in the records temporarily. Then it just stuck because he answered to it. My oldest son wanted to name him "Bacon", as in what's shakin' bacon, because he shook alot then. It's kind of embarrassing though when the vet or groomer asks my last name and then the dog's name.

Male Dog Names - Ozzie

We have a male Dachshund and Maltese mix, we bounced back and forth between Ozzie and Rex. We got him near Ross, not knowing we would be getting a free puppy. We went out to the nearest Petco, which was next door, and bought him: Breast Milk Replacer for small breeds, a pink bed, dishes, some toys, and a batman blanket (from ross) Ozzie was very small, and wasn't near enough to be with out his mother. We got him near thanksgiving last year, 2011. Now he is a big fluff ball who is best friends with my other dogs, Maggie (black lab) and Jinnie (Britney Springer Spaniel Lab mix) He runs around with Jinnie, who thinks she is still a puppy!

I got my Maltese dog from a rescue org. He was a breed dog for a puppy mill and they started breeding him at 6 months old. They named him Jarett. All the people in our family have names that start with "J". However, I didn't like the name Jarrett and decided that he would respond to the name "Jerry". Now with think he looks like a Jerry too!

Funny Dog Names - Fred

I named him Fred or Freddie because of his personality. I believe that Fred is a funny dog name and he is just FUNNY.

When I first saw him he was not shy at all. He was the only boy of 3 puppies. His sisters were so laid back and really didn't even know we were there. But Fred on the other hand ran his little fur ball body straight to us like he had been waiting for us to pick him up for a long time. He jumped and played with us while his sisters sat on the side lines.

Obviously he won our hearts, because we came there looking for a Sophie and got a Freddie.
