Blue Eyed Maltese - Cutie Pie

Cutie Pie is our sweet little blue eyed boy. He just turned 1 in August and he is amazing. He gets along with our 5 year old daughter, 2 year old cat and 6 year old rabbit. We can't remember what life was like without the wagging of his little tail. Aside from having the greatest temperament ever, he also has the most amazing blue eyes. That's right... he is a blue eyed Maltese. He is in perfect health with no sight or hearing problems.


It really makes me sad when I come across a post regarding a blue eyed Maltese. Sad, because the responses are always the same... it's a genetic defect, the dog will be deaf, the dog will go blind, it is not a show dog and/or why would you want something that is not perfect. Please! It is not a genetic defect. It is a genetic deviation. That means, no matter how perfect the linage might be... BOOM, you could get a blue eyed Maltese.

All I can say to that is.... LUCKY US!

I think it's awesome! We went through the same thing with our blue Doberman. We now have our second Maltese gracie (5months). Our first Maltese George died at 13. Best little dogs there are.
