Havamalt Puppies - Axle

this was about 2 weeks ago, he has grown a little.
Hi, we got one of the cutest Havamalt puppies Axle just about 3 weeks ago. I chose him because he seemed to have a little more personality than the others. Maybe a little more trouble my husband thought, but I was sure he would fit right into our family.
The first week was really crazy, thought maybe I made the wrong choice, but then realized I just needed to give him more direction. Well, I was RIGHT! We put him in a Puppy Headstart program at a very reputable kennel, where he slept and trained and had a whole lotta fun for 4 days. The first thing they said to me when I called the first night is "he is a genius". Hello! I knew that! LOL! Our Havamalt is doing fabulous!
I love love love this little guy, and he has the personality to fit his name. The ladies at the kennel call him "the stud muffin". After having very large dogs for 20 years (labs) and having lost them all to old age and cancer, getting another puppy was not my husbands first choice, but now, guess who is wrapped right around that cute little fluffy paw?

I loved my little Maltese, Sadie, but after 13 wonderful years, her little heart just gave out. Our home was just too quiet without a dog, and miraculously, I stumbled upon an ad for Havamalt puppies. I knew from the first day Maggie came home that she was different from my Maltese, and I've discovered almost every day that she's different from any other breed.
She's playful and energetic; she's calm and utterly trusting; she's a clown and a good listener and she's only 9 months old. She loves everyone who comes to visit, human or animal. Every toy is her favorite from squeaky balls to plastic water bottles to empty toilet paper rolls. She knew how to play fetch from the beginning, and loves to ride in the car, especially to her favorite destination... the small dog park. Once in the gate, she runs like the wind and greets everyone. Maggie is usually the one who starts "The Run," jumping and running with a trail of other dogs right behind.
I hear people there all the time,"Whose dog is that?" "What kind of dog is she?" "Where did you get her?" "Are you planning on having puppies with her?" Maggie plays rough and tumble with the dogs who are her regular playmates, but gently greets and nudges the newcomers.
Anyone can pet her and she patiently allows children to scoop her up for a hug. My Havamalt puppies six pounds of playful joy who rarely barks, except at the vacuum or at a new bouquet of daffodils that surprised her in the kitchen one day.
I could not have asked for a better companion to ease the pain of losing Sadie. In fact, I think Sadie orchestrated it somehow.

I wasn't even looking for a dog... but when I came across one of the most adorable Havamalt puppies, I couldn't resist!!
He is a peanut, full grown at only 7 pounds. He loves to snuggle and sleeps best when laying on someone else!
Full of energy and loves to play with other dogs. I hope to add another Havamalt to the family someday :)

Havamalt Puppies - Peeka

Peeka, Thanksgiving day 2008
Peeka is one of the sweetest, little Havamalt puppies. She is 5 months old white with very light tan ears. Peeka looks more Maltese than Havanese.
She is very smart and very full of energy. She has to be watched because she loves to find anything she thinks she can shred to pieces. Peeka is very intelligent. She loves to listen to me talk to her and cocks her head from left to right as if she is trying to learn it all. Already she loves to go everywhere with me and uses her best manners when she is around friends and family.
It is fun watching my Havamalt puppy grow. She was only 1.5 lbs when we got her. Now Peeka weighs 4.5 lbs.
