I just got my Maltese Bichon mix Sophie 16 days ago and we love her to bits! She's a very lovable, smart dog. She was born Nov 14/09, so she's just over 14 wks old. She mostly always goes outside to do her business and only had a couple accidents in the house and they were all by the front door so she knew where she needed to go just not quite sure how to tell us yet.

Lily is a wonderful Maltese Bichon mix dog. She is loyal and protective, energetic yet not too much. Best of all she is lovable and affectionate.
She learns really fast so has been easy to train. This has been by far the best dog I have ever had, and can't imagine life without my Maltese Bichon.

I adopted my Maltese Bichon mix and her sister from a rescue group. Both are very intelligent and happy dogs. She helps take care of Nana who is on hospice care - Nana loves it when she lays in bed with her. Co Co is very happy, intelligent, and lovable. I got her at 3 months and it took another 2 - 3 months to housebreak. She was crate trained which helped.
Now my Maltese Bichon is just over a year old and has the run of the house. Co Co has never chewed up any shoes or furniture, etc. Her sister comes to visit often as she lives with my daughter about 3 miles away. They have a ball getting together. Great, great dog. She loves everyone!!!!

We just found our Maltese Bichon mix at a pet rescue. He had been kicked and his pelvic was broken. This little guy is sweet, loyal(we've only had him 4 days), playful, and beautiful. He is one year old and already fetches and is potty trained. We love him. He gets along great with our 7 yr. old Bichon Cocker mix dog "Charlie".

Our Ruffie II is a Maltese Bichon mix or Maltichon. He is 9yrs old, Rikki is a Havapuf (havanese/chinese crested powder puff mix) he is 3 yrs old and Sunny is our newest addition, he is a Poochon and he is just 4months old and 5lbs.
We started with just Ruffie as a puppy when my husbands dogs of 13yrs died and he said no more dogs! Well I couldn't live without a dog in the house so here came Ruffi II ( the old dog was a pekapoo named Rufus). Ruffie had separation anxiety very bad so he went everywhere with us. When he was 2 yrs old my one of my husbands' co-workers had an 8yr old Bichon his family didn't want anymore and we could have him if we wanted him so we took him, Duffy was his name and he and Ruffie got along really well but it didn't help Ruffie any with his problem, so Duffy stayed home when I went to work (only 3hrs 2days and week) then a year later someone who I knew had a 3yr old full brother to Ruffie called and didn't want him anymore because she lived in town and he ran to the school all time to play with the kids and her husband said he'd put him down before he'd put a fence up so... you guessed it we took him in and he never ran away. He was the best little dog ever.
Well a year ago this past Sept. Duffy left us he had liver disease. We kept him alive for a year and a half with meds and special food. We got Rikki the February we found out that Duffy was sick. Rikki 5months old and had some problems with trusting people. He was fine with me but it has taken 21/2 years before he will sit on my husbands lap and sometimes will let him pick him up. But he is a very nice dog. Well this past Feb. Our first Sonny (Ruffie's full brother) got sick with lymphoma. We were heart broken. This little furball of love was going to leave us. We got an Airdale (1 1/2 yr old) Merlin. a very nice dog.
Sonny left us on June 5 of this year. I've never missed a dog as much as him. So in Oct. my mother got us our new little Sunny Dunny. Yes he has made the hurt go away. Not our memories of Sonny but the hurt and believe it or not he looks like the old Sonny and does some of the same things.
Merry Christmas from us all!

Our Maltese Bichon mix Cooper is a great dog. He is currently 9 weeks old. He is very playful. We are working on potty training by keeping him on a leash and near us at all times. We are working on the nipping/biting at the ankles.

Abigail is a rescue dog. We found our Maltese Bichon mix in a store living in a fish aquarium. When we brought her home, she had cedar chips buried in her hair, you could hardly see her eyes, and she was in short, a mess!
Abigail has grown up to be a beautiful dog with a personality unlike any dog I've ever known. There is not a mean bone in her body and she loves everyone. She was voted 'Miss Congeniality' at the boat club because she has to greet everyone that comes down the dock. Be it human, cat of dog, Abigail has a little wag (she never barks) that let's everyone know that she is glad to see them.
Abigail loves the water, and likes to boat, go jet skiing, and swim. In fact, our Maltese Bichon mix likes to do anything that we are doing. She is one in a million.

Our Maltese Bichon mix Casey has the best disposition of any dog I have had. We got him from DC Dogfinders and live in Alexandria, VA.
He is 8 months old and has a lot of energy. That's one of my questions to other Maltichon owners out there. Will he ever calm down. I walk him miles a day and he plays very well with other dogs for hours at a time. Please tell me he will eventually become a lap dog. He is either moving or chewing his toys. I don't think I have ever seen him sleep although at night all is quiet in the playroom.
The second question pertains to his car sickness. Poor baby. He throws up if he is driving more than 10 minutes so he doesn't like going in the car. Any suggestions for this. I am hoping he outgrows it.
If there are any Maltichon owners who want to email me privately please do. Mariprette@aol.com. Thank you, Marilyn

I have an Maltese Bichon mix. We have had him since he was 5 weeks old. He was abandoned by his mum as she couldn't cope with the 3 pups she had so I got some wellpie milk and fed him with a bottle till he could lap.
My Maltese Bichon is now 1 year old and very playful and good with other dogs and has a very funny personality and a good temperament with children and can be very protective not nasty he is just comical.

Our Maltese Bichon mix Charlie is what our family calls "the baby". Cause that is exactly what he acts like. He was born sometime in May/June of 2007. He adopted us when he was 7 months old. It is so hard to describe him though. He is precious. He is sweet and gentle. He's very smart. He always listens. He pays attention.
He is not your average dog. It took no time for me to teach our Maltese Bichon how to sit, speak, stay, down, ect. Of course, my other dog... my buddy, my Oscar, had a hand in that one. Unfortunately, Charlie's big brother (bichon/poodle mix)Oscar; passed away January 1, 2010. Everything he did, he watched Oscar. That's what I mean by paying attention. Not only is he smart, he also has this baby side to him. That's why we call him the baby.
Some of Charlie's personality traits. He has a very high pitched bark that sometimes gets our other Bichon dog to howling. His bark get's even more high pitched when he is playing. He kicks his little legs when he is trying to be "scary". He runs to me when something happens to him, like a little baby (as if to say mommy save me). He runs to me even if I accidentally do something to him... like he is saying, "I know you did it, but make it feel better. He doesn't bark often, it is mostly when my other dog Karl barks, or when someone (other than myself) comes to the door.
He understands a lot of what I say. Like if I say Ill be right back, he doesn't flip out to go with me (he may cry) but if I say to someone... "I'm gonna take Charlie with me" he flips out and is ready to go! so he kinda understands things when he really listens. He is great around dogs for the first He wants to play, but when he is done, he will jump in my lap as if to say, that's enough, let's go. He likes to go places, but he hates car rides. He will willingly get into my car to go, but he get's very nervous, shaky and panty, when he is in. I use a leash with Charlie, but I don't have to. It has not taken me long to make him stay next to me when a car goes by. He also likes to snuggle! And he likes to lay on my clothes. And I can't forget that he kinda follows me everywhere, but he can also live without me. So he is attached, but not too attached. I put clothes on him sometimes, and he doesn't mind. When the vacuum is on, he runs frantically back and forth, but we are working on that.
And as for his appearance. He is like most other Bichon Maltese mixes. He had straight hair when he was little, making us think is was just your regular Maltese, but now his hair is a little more kinky. He, has the silky, fine hair but not completely like a Maltese and not like a Bichon. He's right in between. He has that puppy look, and plays like a puppy still, just like a Maltese does. He has those baby eyes that a Maltese has. But he is in the weight range of a small Bichon. He is just Charlie! My baby.

Cotton, my Maltese Bichon mix, loves to have his belly rubbed and he is very possessive of his stuffed dog we call Baby. Cotton is very playful and loves conversation; he usually will do multiple simple commands if he's in the mood. I love my Maltese Bichon!

My Maltese Bichon mix very playful and loves the 2 tennis balls we gave her. She has all the energy to run for the ball. My Maltese Bichon follows you wherever you go and loves to be cuddled and have a massage around her neck. She is a good companion when you feel down.
I'm so sorry that I don't have a pic of our beautiful Bella. I'm not computer saavy and don't know how to download a pic. Our little Bella is a Maltese Bichon mix. We got her when she was 12 weeks old. She is the sweetest, smartest little bundle of joy we could ask for.
We live in a condo and she came to us trained to go potty in a litter box. My husband and I both work full time so it is so helpful to us that we can leave little Bella at home during the day and not worry about her having an accident in the house. (I am a teacher and have taken her to school in my classroom many times.) Whenever we take our Maltese Bichon for a walk, everyone always asks what kind of dog she is as she looks like a little teddy bear.
The breeder we bought her from in Snohomish, WA named this mixed breed as a "Bikki Bear". I would recommend this breeder to anyone as this little smartie would bring joy to anyone's lives! I'll post a pic as soon as I figure out how to do it :)

Cody, a Maltese Bichon mix, was a birthday present for my nephew from me. Too bad for my nephew, Granger he was allergic to him. So my sister Felicia gave Cody back to me. I had a 1 week return on him so it was only 3 days in... so I had to keep Cody.
After 2 days of him I fell in love! Cody is the best dog! My Maltese Bichon is so smart and he adapted to my house after 1 day. Cody learned how to do tricks after 1 month. Cody greeted everyone when they walked in the door but... also he kept my property safe because, the 3 little boys across the street were ding-dong-ditching my house continuously so Cody had to go out to go to the bathroom & my Cody-kinz barked and howled so they got scared away now NOBODY ding-dong-ditches my house anymore.
Also, Cody is loyal as ever! He always snuggles up to me in my bed. My Maltese Bichon mix Cody is the best.

Casper the Maltese Bichon mix is now 19 months old and has been trained as a Hearing Dog here in New Zealand. He is a highly intelligent loyal dog who loves affection and plays well with children. Everywhere I go I constantly get comments as to how cute he is. I have never had anyone found him offesive or complianed about him. Because of his status as a working dog - he goes everywhere with me - it is a wonderful thing to have. Maltese Bichon dogs I believe should be in constant companionship - they are not the type of dogs who will survive on their own if left to their own devices.
Casper is adoreable in everyway and beautiful in nature. Gentle loving, loyal and cute. I could never imagine him to be an aggressive dog ever. In saying that he is very protective of me and my daughter. He certainly will alert you if there is any danger.

My Maltese Bichon mix is a very personable dog. I have had her since she was 7 weeks old which I now understand was really too young to have brought her home. I bought her from a "backyard breeder". She is now 4 years old. She is simply a joy to be around. She loves people.
One of her favorite things to do is visit the residents at the nursing where I work. I ask her if she wants to go to work; she comes running into the kitchen and jumps up on a chair to have her harness and leash put on. When we get up on the floor where I work she is all wagging tail and happy eyes. My Maltichon greets every resident who wishes to be greeted by putting her paws on their knees and giving their fingers a kiss. She has only had basic puppy classes and did well in those. Unfortunately, I work evenings and have not been able to find any day-time classes so she and I can work on her Therapy Dog Certification.
She has got to be one of the most affectionate dogs I have had. She is also very talkative. My Maltese Bichon greets everyone with a series of barks that does sound like she is having a conversation. she gets along well with the two cats and the beagle she lives with. At one time, she spent so much time with the youngest cat, I thought she was going to become a cat.
I could go on and on as most people could who have had the privilege of being "owned" by one of these delightful, happy, joy-filled Maltese Bichon mix dogs.
