We got our Maltese Chihuahua puppy Kimmy at 14 weeks from the Animal Defense League. We fell in love with her immediately. She rules the house and has been the greatest companion for our 2 yr. old Corgi Sheltie mix. They run and play and are always into something. Our Maltese Chihuahua is a real delight and couldn't have ask for a better pet.
She loves our 3 grand children ages 8, 3 and 8 month and lays on the floor beside the baby and he plays and plays with her. They play tug of war with her squeaking fox. What a special pet she is.

Marty is an 11 week old Maltese Chihuahua puppy. He was 8 weeks when we got him. He has learned to use a pee pad in only one week. He is very smart and gets along great with other dogs.
He is full of energy and loves to socialize with people. My Maltese Chihuahua does not seem to be afraid of anything. Loves to be held. But when ready to play he goes all out.

My Maltese Chihuahua puppy is the sweetest little girl I would ever want... she is a real diva also. Loves to cuddle and be near me. She also loves kids... any age or type she is a real lover that is for sure.
She also gets along with my other dog, my cats and my 2 bunnies. She couldn't and wouldn't hurt anyone or anything. My Maltese Chihuahua loves to play but will be more then happy to veg on the couch with you also.
I had met the owner of my Maltese Chihuahua puppy 1 1/2 years earlier... Found out she owned the Chihuahua female and a Maltese male. I asked her if she'd be willing to let them breed, and she agreed to my relief! I told her I had owned one many years before, but wasn't aware it was a more common "breed" in recent years.
I saw Bijoux at 6 days old, and just fell in love! Out of 4 puppies, she was the only female. I was very involved in the first 8 wks. Before she came home, and the owner of her parents agreed to call her by her name right away, so she already "knew it" by the time I got her. I was told that from the start, she was the one who instigated all the "rough-housing" w/ her 3 brothers!
I was so amazed how quickly she learned commands!! She responded correctly to about 10 commands at 5 wks!! It seemed there was no end to her curiosity and bravery! She was very athletic right from the beginning...Trying to climb up everything, and I had to really watch to make sure she didn't jump down from too high...Until her legs were stronger to withstand the landings!
Her cutest trick now is "dance!" where she turns around in a circle on her hind legs for a treat! The other one she likes is "walk!"...And she'll walk side-ways towards me on her hind legs...Used to be straight, but that changed, and it's even cuter!!
She's 16 months now, and has become relentless antagonizing our 12 yr-old male cat, taz, to play! It took a year, but now taz engages in quite a few silly games w/ her...It provides many hours of hilarity around the house!
They are my "kids", so it's important they get along so well...They share beds...Sort of take turns, but although there are 1-2 pet beds in each room, they reserve those for day naps, and prefer their night-sleeping w/ us on the king-size bed!
I am surprised to read that the average weight is 4-7 pds! Bijoux weighs 11 pds.....The same as the cat, so they're evenly matched anyway..!!
She is extremely strong and lean, a longer body than I thought she'd have, and shorter legs...But is cream w/ her mother's blonde / beige dusting over the back, and ears...With the most adorable long red eyelashes!!!
She is super affectionate, very sweet disposition, and is a serious "attention hog", or, more like jealous if taz is around!
I've been fortunate that she learned house-training fairly well, but since she now can have the run of the property (1.25 acres w/ a 6' fence) she has increasingly become "hard-of-hearing" when I call her to 'come"...So I installed a hanging copper bell by the front door and ring it a few times instead. She comes running like a torpedo!!
I'd say the most difficult thing w/ Malchis is that if there's something else that interests them more, they can decide to have "an independent attack"!!
That's when you have to stick w/ the discipline, and not spoil them by giving in, or giving up! (the same as w/ children!)
Because I have no children of my own, (but I am one of 18 kids) Bijoux has really gotten most of my "waking hours" attention! Right now, I don't have a 9-5 job, but she does alright if I have to go away for 3-4 hrs. She learned how to use the dog door in 3 tries!!
She loves to walk on leash around the neighborhood (rural) and rarely barks in the yard unless she sees a human she doesn't recognize...(I don't allow her to bark incessantly as some neighbors do!!) she's not too keen on the bathing process, but loves to race around the house afterwards like a maniac!! She wears clothes very well, especially likes her sweatshirts and sweaters in the winter...And has waaaay toooo many clothes!!
The best thing we love is that she looooves her picture taken and "poses" so easily for them! We have tons of photos of her since she came home as an 8-wk. Old puppy.
One of her favorite things is running to my husband as soon as he walks in the door from work, and jumps from the floor into his arms like she has springs on her feet! What a joyful, loving little dog!
Our life has changed so drastically for the better since she entered it!!
We consider ourselves very blessed by her...Such a "little thing" means everything to us!!!
She's fearless, funny, playful, engaging, energetic, intelligent and completely adorable!!
I would highly recommend a Maltese hybrid, and waiting 15 years for another one was definitely worth it!!

Cupid was a gift to me from my husband for Valentine's Day 2009. He is a 9 week old Chihuahua Maltese mix puppy, beautiful and soooo sweet! He looks more like a Maltese than a Chihuahua, but has a very lively personality. We are in love with him already!
He is content to lay in his bed when we are doing things around the house, but as soon as I walk into the room, he commands my attention. He has been fairly easy to "potty train". We are using puppy pads and outside. He turns around and around in circles when he needs to "go".
He only weighs 2 pounds right now, but he thinks he's a BIG dog because he looks through the child gate and barks at our two larger dogs like he's the boss. He's great with our 7 year old deaf son, also.

Cooper is a very active Chihuahua Maltese mix puppy at 9 months old. He is such a sweet boy. He is very playful and as obedient as a 9 month old male puppy could be (Wink Wink). He is not aggressive at all but loves to annoy his older sister (a 3 yr old chi/terrier mix). He loves to travel and loves to meet new people. He loves to go outside and given the chance he will roll his face all in the dirt.
Tug is his favorite game. At 5 1/2 pounds he loves to drag around toys twice his size. My Chihuahua Maltese does not let his size and short stub legs hold him back. When he gets excited he flies around the house like a rocket and if you pick him up you just might get tinkled on.
He has outta control hair and ear that have a mind of their own. He is also intrigued by TVs and mirrors(he can be a little vain haha). My Maltese Chihuahua is very quiet other than a deep but quiet bark every once in a while.
Here's an update on our wonderful Chihuahua Maltese mix puppy.

Charlie one of the most extremely friendly, energetic and obedient Chihuahua Maltese mix puppies. He loves all other animals too. His hair is extremely fluffy like cotton balls but doesn't grow longer than in the picture. He sheds but it is not noticeable. He is almost 7 months old and weighs 15 lbs. He is significantly bigger than his mother (Maltese, 11 pounds), and Father (Chihuahua 9 pounds), and sister who weighs about 5 pounds. Charlie does not bark. He playfully growls when playing tug-of-war but other than that he just trots along and wags his tail. My Chihuahua Maltese mix puppy is extremely intelligent as well, whenever we go for a walk or go to the dog park, he will always look at me as if asking permission before he will go play with another dog or person.

My Chihuahua Maltese puppy is about 7lbs & is 8months old. Layla is a full ball of energy, She's very smart & knows how to give mommy & daddy the sad puppy eyes when we get ready to go out. She loves to cuddle & LOVES running around at the beach, she's very good with car rides and after sticking her head out of the window she eventually curls up on our laps & falls asleep. When strangers come near our door she turns into this vicious dog alarm; barking & growling as loud as she can but to us it just sounds really cute. She is very friendly though and would probably lick the robbers to death; she's very vocal & loves rope toys. My Chihuahua Maltese puppy is always happy & ready to play! She's a sweetheart.

My Mal-chi puppy is fun and loving! he loves to cuddle but can also be very playful. He is 12 weeks old, he is semi potty trained but can be stubborn! He looks more like a Maltese, he has long fluffy hair. He does not bark much, and is very good with my 1 year old.

Bond (yes, as in James Bond) was born June 28. Our male Maltese, Danger, and female Chihuahua, Minnie(Mouse) got into a bit of trouble and she ended up pregnant. She gave birth to SIX Maltese Chihuahua puppies (a lot for a Chihuahua!!) and I love them all so much! We are taking one (Bond) and giving the rest to close friends and family who are just dying to get their hands on these furry cuties! Bond is so much like his daddy, even now, he is friendly, cuddly, but loves to play and beat up the other puppies (in a friendly way, of course). I can't wait to watch him and the other grow up! All the Maltese Chihuahua puppies are social and don't have one mean bone in their entire body.

Samwise is a joy to love. He is the son of a long haired Chihuahua and a Malchi, so he is a Chihuahua Malchi mix puppy. He is apricot colored, long haired but you can see the short hairs below the long as well.
He runs like the wind when let loose outside. He loves the outdoors, often wanting out every 2 hours to play.
He has been difficult to house train, but we are working on it. He does a few "tricks" so far, sit, lie down.
He hates a bath. Does not like to get wet. Loves everybody except the vet! Took an instant dislike to the vets office, had to pick him up to get him to go inside even.

My family just got our Chihuahua Maltese mix puppy Chewy and his brother Gizmo who looks just like Chewy on 5-8-09(9 weeks old). I will try to post a pic of Gizmo if I can get him to stay still..lol..Ball of ENERGY!
Chewy's mom is Maltese around 3lbs or so and his dad is 3lb Chihuahua. He is so tiny, but full of energy. Very loving with a big personality. He thinks that he is bigger than what he is, a real tuff guy..lol.
I just got him and his brother Gizmo on Friday So we are still learning about their individual personalities. One thing I have found out is that they get spoiled very easily and are very smart. We are very happy to have them in our life!

My Maltese Chihuahua puppy is 9 months old, 6lbs and thinks she's a cat. She plays with cat toys, although loves her dog ball and ropes. She is very loveable and a lap/chest dog. She doesn't eat a lot of food either. She doesn't like regular dog treats, she prefers fruits and veggies. (Pears especially)
We have 5 cats, 2 birds and another dog, who is a Lab Shepard mix. The Lab mix took right to Nala like she was her own pup. Nala has adapted well with all the animals in the house and plays with each of them (except the birds, they stay in their cage) We've taken our Maltese Chihuahua mix puppy on road trips and she did very well. She tends to stick by me mostly, sleeps on the bed with us and makes her bed under the covers.
For being a BIG dog person all of my life, having Nala is quite different. Although she thinks she's a cat most of the time, she loves to run and chase the bigger dog and stands up for herself. Gotta love this little Malchi!

Cali Fae Bugg is our wonderful Maltese Chihuahua puppy. She has characteristics of both a Maltese and a Chihuahua. She kind of looks like a long-haired Chihuahua, but has the temperament of a Maltese.
