Scrub the Mauxie
by Melanie
(Seattle, WA)
Scrub at 5 months old
Scrub is a 6 month old Mauxie. He is the sweetest dog I've ever owned! He has such a calm temperament and a sweet personality. He is not loud and is very good with children. He digs blankets and his bed, and chews rawhide bones, but is not destructive with anything around the house.
He loves to have his belly rubbed and to play with his stuffed animals. He's not much of a guard dog because he would rather lick you than bark at you and he is friendly with all strangers.
I couldn't ask for a nicer pet. He lives in a small apartment and runs laps around the house when he is hyper. He is a very good apartment dog. If all Mauxies are like Scrub, I would recommend them to anyone.
Energetic Mauxie - Punchek

Punchek or Crazy Girl
Our little Mauxie girl is a bundle of energy and has never met a person she didn't want to greet and lick. She loves to play with our cat and sometimes even wins the wrestling matches.
Our Maltese Dachshund mix is such a blessing to our life and so much fun to spend time taking for walks and playing.

My Mauxie - Champ
by Gaby Larkin
(Lindenhurst, NY)
The Best Dog Ever!
My Mauxie's name is Champ. He is now 3 years old and weighs 12 pounds.
He has so much personality and he's loved more and more each day. He likes to bark at people/dogs that walk by but his bark is bigger than his bite. He loves plenty of attention and he is always entertaining us at home.
Would recommend this mix to anyone. He is like our little baby and he is no trouble at all.

Day at the beach
She's a little terror, but my Mauxie so full of love that it's hard to stay mad at her! Her hair has changed from dark browns and black to lighter browns and cream, and my Mauxies hair grows fairly quickly. She's a great little dog, but patience is required!

Oscar says "Cheese"!
This is an updated picture of our Mauxie pup Oscar. I am still curious how big he will be. He has such a pretty coat with many different colors. He still is spoiled rotten & the greatest little guy ever.
Take a look at what he looked like as one of the cutest little Mauxie puppies.
Here is Oscar as a 4 month old Mauxie.

Mauxie Update - Gracie Lou
by Susan Ford
(Amarillo, Texas)
Gracie Lou Freebush Ford - Miss Behavin
I first posted a picture of my Mauxie puppy Gracie Lou for Valentineās Day 2008. This is an updated picture at 2 years old. I call her Miss Behavin for this picture, because you can really tell she must be in trouble! Actually, she had just come home from the groomers and was rolling all over the couch and created such static electricity, she turned out like this.
Since I posted such a sweet picture the first time, I thought everyone would enjoy seeing the āother sideā of a Mauxie! She is such a little clown and is still the love of our lives. She is so smart and her vocabulary recognition is unbelievable. We have to be careful of what we say sometimes. Of course her recognition is very selective. Sometimes she decides to go totally deaf and not hear a word we say.
During this first 2 year period, Gracie changed in looks 4 times, totally different each time. At birth till 8 weeks or so, she was very dark brown and slick haired and went to the multi-colored curly hair at 10 weeks or so (like her first picture). At about a year, her hair was long and straight and had a lot of white and blond and her face looked square (weird). She looked like a little old man. By 2 her face elongated and she is mostly white. Mauxies are really like a box of chocolates in one little package. You never know what youāll get (for sure).
When I posted her first picture, I mentioned the trouble with her one leg/foot where the bones were not growing at the same rate and she had a limp when sheād first wake up from sleeping. We worked with our vet and he recommended we hang on till she was 1 year 2 months old, at which time her bone growth should slow/stop and weād see how she was doing. If the limp worsened or she appeared to be in any pain, weād have to do something else. Fortunately, she quit limping entirely and she holds her foot straight when she walks. I think we were very fortunate indeed.
I canāt express how much we love our Mauxie Gracie Lou and recommend this mixed breed for anyone!

I'm getting so big!
Oscar is 4 months old now and is still the greatest Mauxie puppy. We are having a little trouble potty training him. So if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
Check out what he looked like as one of the cutest Mauxie puppies.
This is what our Mauxie looked like at 9 weeks.

My 18 months old Mauxie "Chen Chen". She is a very curious and playful girl. Like most Mauxies, Chen Chen is extremely adorable and cute. Even my mother who is afraid of dogs falls in love with this little baby now. Chen Chen is the gift for my family and we will love her forever.

Sweet Mauxie - Gracie
by Lindsay N
(Tulsa, OK)
Our Mauxie, Gracie, is the greatest dog ever! She is about 2-1/2 yrs. old and is so sweet. She is very laid back and friendly. She has never snapped at a baby or child not matter how many times they pull on her ears or poke her in the eyes. She loves to lick, especially anytime she can get you in the face :-) We are so glad we got our Mauxie when we did!
Sweet Mauxie - Iggy
by S. Marie
(Bellevue, Washington.)
Iggy as a puppy
She is the BEST dog I've ever had. She loves other dogs. Aside from being an alarm barker (we're working on that), she's no trouble at all. Very affectionate, sweet natured, obedient.
I got her from a woman in Shoreline, Wash. She was born Nov. 25, 2006. If anybody else got one of her litter mates, I'd love to meet you!
Spoiled Mauxie - Gryffin
by Claudia
(Redding, CA)
Gryffin is an energetic and loud 4 month old Mauxie. He loves to play and cuddle and go for car rides. He expects everyone to adore him and thinks he runs the place.
Though he's a little spoiled, he is a sweet little Mauxie puppy who's working on his manners and growing by the day!

Mauxie - George
by Carol
(Longford, Tasmania, Australia)
George
George was given to us last week, he is 10 months old and we were told he is a Mauxie. I would say from his coloring and appearance that the Dachshund is the strong gene and not the Maltese. I had not heard of Mauxie's before so i did not know what to expect. George is so sweet, he is lovable and a little mischievous he plays with our 2 yr old Labradoodle and they have loads of fun together.
I am wondering if he will change in looks or coloring as he grows older and when will he stop growing?
A Mauxie Named Roxie
Roxie the Mauxie puppy
My Mauxie puppy Roxie is 4 months old & 4 lbs. BOLD when she wants to be and a drama queen at bath time. Curious as a cat. And YES everyone loves her.
She demands her own space when tired, but also likes to cuddle in the morning. Roxie loves to try to keep up with her 50 lb. Border Collie brother.
Mauxie - Sylvester
by Eric
(Southeastern Pennsylvania)
Full Shag mode
Sylvester was a Christmas gift for the family from our late Nanny. Our Mauxie has a very calm temperament and was easy to train. Housebreaking was very easy as he learns very quickly. When our daughters were younger they would dress him up and take him for rides in their stroller. He never "complained" but took it with grace.
Many people we know use Sylvester as the standard as they search for their own dog. He shares the house with two cats, and knows his place. Our black cat is the "queen" and likes to tease the our Mauxie, as he is afraid of her. But when it's nap time the dog and two cats are often found curled up on our bed together.
Mauxie - Rex
Rex is a 2 month old female Mauxie, her father was a Maltese and her mother was a toy Dachshund. She is one out of a litter of 5. She is very hyper yet loving and understanding. Our Maltese Dachshund mix is doing well with potty training, and is super smart. She started answering to her name in just a day! We are thinking our Mauxie could have long hair but still not sure, she is white with some brown spots (her mother was brown).
