We named our Maltese one of the most unique female dog names. Tsukihime is Japanese for Moon Princess. We call her Tsuki (pronounced Sookie). Our daughter came up with the name through her Anime art research. She is 13 and very talented.

I wanted to call her Piper since I always liked it because it was one of the more unique female dog names. I was thinking how small she was and of the small plane "Piper Cub".
I have four daughters who have rather unusual names as well. I think it fits her well as she is sturdy and strong and adapts well to whatever the "weather pattern" is, if ya know what I mean!
The Princess part came about because when she was registered they already had a Piper, so we added Princess.

You remember the song, Alice's Restaurant? Well, in the song by Arlo Guthrie he and his band had Thanksgiving dinner there while they were on the road traveling. Alice had a dog named Facha. And that my friends is how she was named...

I am going to school in PA and am very homesick. A friend offered her last Maltipoo pup that she was having a hard time selling. I named her Tampa because that is home to me, and where I love to be. I think it is one of the most unique female dog names around...
My sister got a pup and named it Bay and I'm currently looking for a friend to my Maltipoo to name Bucs. She is a sweet, sweet dog. She suffers from little dog syndrome (lol) and cuddles with you most of the day!

Meesha (Marie is her middle name)
I have always wanted a small furry dog... and I have always wanted her name to be Meesha. I have always thought it would be a "small but powerful" name! It fits her perfectly!
She is 3 pounds 4 ounces and just a little love bug. (Born 9/8/11)

I found a great female dog name for my Maltese. Mochi is a Japanese Hawaiian dessert treat made from ground rice flour. It's a New Years traditional to make mochi balls and put them on display to welcome the good spirits. The ice cream filled version is available at grocery stores. Oso Ono (Hawaiian for "Oh, so delicious").
A little white rice ball.

Since I read that Maltese are sweet dogs, I just blurted out Sugar and a few days later I put Berry. I chose it because no one I know has put that name and it is a very female dog name. I also liked Sugarberry too.

I was searching for unique Spanish dog names and ran across this one. It was perfect. Chica is Spanish for "Little Girl" which I thought would be appropriate because she is a Mal-Chi and at full grown she will only be 5-6 lbs. She will always be our little Chica.

Jewel (after being loved)
The shelter where I adopted Jewel gave her this name. They thought she had a broken jaw and couldn't close her mouth. Her teeth were all infected and had to be pulled and she was diagnosed with a "floating jaw". The vet estimated her age between 5-7 yrs old... living in a cage with no name and major neglect in a puppy mill. After having her one year, her name truly fits this little girl. She is a true Jewel that loves people in spite of her horrible previous life. She now goes everywhere with me and enjoys her stroller when accompanying her Mom to art shows and outside events. She goes thrift store shopping with me and stands up in a shopping cart like she is Queen of the World!
I am an English teacher and knew that I wanted to give her a literary name that was looking for unique female dog names. I've had this name from Much Ado About Nothing saved. When I met her, she was my little Hero. She is beautiful, demure, and lovely like the Hero in the play.

I have a Havanese and her name is Lucy, so I named my male Maltese Desi. My husband's grandfather is related to Lucy Ball.

Issabella and her sister Sofia Ralph Lauren, were rescued by me from a shelter in Canton Ohio. I think Issabella Versasce is a very cute Italian dog name. I drove 7 hours to get them after I spent weeks persuading the rescue to let me have them. I live in Louisville, KY and their rules had been to not let the rescues leave an area more than an hour from them. They were a bonded pair, in fact the only two in the litter and they have never been apart except for one time when "Bella" was hospitalized and then I took her sister to visit her every day.
I named she and her sister foo-foo names as they were so scraggley and matted and dirty when I got them I thought it would make them feel better about themselves if they had great names. And it worked they are little princesses today and rule our home along with our big male Maltie Daye Tripper!

I chose the name from the serial drama (warehouse 13) where the lady named Micah are pretty, strong personality, funny and smart. It is unique name and I love it. It is suits my Maltese.
I came up with some unique female dog names for my two little ones. Starfly & Tinkerbell, Star and Tink for short. They are my babies and their names just came to me when I started bonding with them :)
